The North Bay is a subregion of the Bay Area that includes cities and towns along and above the north shore of San Francisco Bay located in Marin, Napa, Solano, and Sonoma counties. The North Bay is the least urbanized and populous region of the Bay Area and includes the renowned Napa and Sonoma wine country.
The main cities of the North Bay are Napa, Novato, Petaluma, San Rafael, Santa Rosa, Sausalito, Sonoma, Tiburon, and Vallejo. The iconic Golden Gate Bridge connects the North Bay to the city of San Francisco and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge links to the East Bay.
The North Bay is home to many nature preserves and parks, including Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Mt. Tamalpais State Park, Point Reyes National Seashore, Sonoma Coast State Park, and Tiburon Uplands Nature Preserve.
