The South Bay (synonymous with Silicon Valley and the Santa Clara Valley) is a subregion of the Bay Area and mostly consists of the towns and cities located in Santa Clara County. Sometimes certain areas of Santa Cruz County and San Benito County are also considered part of the South Bay.
Silicon Valley is notable as the birthplace and home of many high-tech companies, including Apple, Cisco, eBay, Facebook, Google, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Netflix, Oracle, Twitter and Yahoo, among many others.
The South Bay includes the incorporated cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, San Jose, Santa Clara, Saratoga, and Sunnyvale. In addition, Santa Cruz and surrounding areas are sometimes considered to be part of the South Bay region.
